Many Hands - Heavy Work

As folks worked to save their homes and businesses, help came from many places, in many ways.

Just a couple examples:

An elderly couple asked if they could sit at a sandbagging station at the Expo Center in Ft. Pierre.  They came with with two shovels and a desire to help in any way they could.   He had recently had shoulder surgery, and she had a bad back, but, at their own pace, they could fill sandbags.  A full sandbag was too heavy for either of them to lift, but they found lots of willing helpers, once they had them tied.

Fourteen year old, Conner, spend all day Friday sandbagging.  At 2:30 AM he woke up and could not get back to sleep, so he got up and came down to start sandbagging again.  He stayed at it all day Saturday, too.

There are countless examples of caring and personal sacrifice.  Families and individuals are setting aside their personal needs to help those in much greater need.

Thank you - to each and everyone of you!
