Sandbagging

All along the Missouri and Bad Rivers, families and businesses are fighting for survival.  Officials estimate that more than 2000 people will be displaced as flood waters rise.

Friends, neighbors and strangers are working side by side, doing whatever it takes: filling sand bags, moving furniture, bringing food, finding housing.......

Friday, water was being released from  Oahe Dam at a rate of 85,000 cubic feet per second.

Due to weather conditions upstream, it became necessary to increase the flow to 150,000 cubic feet per second within the next week.

Workers were told this 4 foot sandbag berm would have to be increased to 8 feet.
